Trans-Exec Private Jets, a charter operator based in Van Nuys, Calif., claims to be “the first private jet company to have installed advanced, global in-flight, high-speed wireless Internet service.” The system is the eNfusion System 6 package from EMS Satcom and, according to Trans-Exec, it provides service worldwide “over land or water.” It allows Trans-Exec passengers to access e-mail and the Internet through their own Wi-Fi-capable BlackBerry or SmartPhone devices.
The system includes the HSD-467 high-speed-data transceiver with one channel supporting Inmarsat SwiftBroadband voice and data and the second providing an additional voice connection. The AMT-50G high-gain antenna receives and transmits signals to and from Inmarsat satellites from up to 10 degrees below the horizon. The CNX-200 network accelerator is a networking device that combines Ethernet, Wi-Fi, acceleration and other networking functions.
