Med-Pac is presenting its latest air ambulance system here at the NBAA show (Booth No. 2317). The Med-Pac 400 is a self-contained kit incorporating a stretcher with an oxygen supply, air compressor, vacuum pumps and inverters. According to the Fargo, N.D.-based firm, it weighs just 95 lb, compared to the 130- to 160-lb units offered by competitors.

The Med-Pac 400 is built from aluminum, rather than the more usual composite and, as such, is claimed to be more durable and easier to repair. It measures 16 in. wide, 9 in. high and 72 in. long and is priced at $23,995 (not including optional items, such as a vertical gas bar, a removable armrest and a loading ramp). The company intends to offer a version for helicopters by next spring.
