Midway through its 14-city U.S. tour in mid-June, the Embraer Legacy business jet mockup is opening a lot of eyes. “I had no idea the cabin was this big,” is the comment heard over and over, according to U.S. sales manager Mike Gearhart. He added that the road team is hosting an average of 100 to 150 visitors at each stop. “We don’t have the range, speed or altitude of a Gulfstream,” said Gearhart, “but a number of pilots–and even some Gulfstream marketing personnel–see this airplane as an excellent complement to a GIV-SP or GV. And, at $20.4 million complete, it is more in the [price] range of a super-midsize jet.” FAA certification for the Legacy was expected “imminently.” To date, Embraer has firm orders for 73 copies of the Legacy.
