Thierry Dubois is a freelance writer specializing in helicopters, business aviation and aerospace technology. He earned a degree in fluid dynamics from an engineering school in Toulouse, France in the mid-1990s. At an unexpected crossroads, he found his first job in journalism. In 1997, he started working for French aerospace weekly Air &amp; Cosmos in Paris. This lasted until 2000, when he moved south to Lyons. He then became a freelancer, working for various aerospace publications and has been part of the AIN team since late 2000. In addition to writing about business aviation, Thierry shares responsibility for the rotorcraft section. He also is a regular on-site writer for AIN’s daily editions at international airshows such as the Paris, Farnborough, Dubai and Singapore shows, as well as at EBACE in Geneva.
In 2007, he won the Honeywell award for “Best systems or technology submission” at the Aerospace journalist of the year awards. In 2013, he won an Aerospace Media Award for the "Best Safety, Training &amp; Simulation Submission."
In other activities, Thierry moderates international conferences on aviation technology topics. Thierry is married and has three children, who seem to begin enjoying the mountains–as their parents do.

Eurocopter, at a news conference in Paris today, disclosed its results for last year, saying it achieved an all-time high in sales that surpasses those for 2006, which were tops until now. The French-German helicopter manufacturer recorded 802 orders worth $9.5 billion (€6.58 billion) last year, and the backlog now stands at a record $20 billion (€13.5 billion). According to Eurocopter, the company’s best seller is the Ecureuil/EC 130 line, 325 of which were ordered, including military versions. The EC 135 light twin is the next best-selling helicopter, with 134 sales for the year. Eurocopter CEO Lutz Bertling noted that the executive/corporate segment has grown by 30 percent every year since 2005, though he pointed out that all rotorcraft market segments are growing. Eurocopter last year delivered 488 helicopters, a 28-percent leap from the previous year, and Bertling indicated that shipments this year will be even higher. Revenues increased by 10 percent to $6 billion (€4.17 billion), even though the company has been affected by the falling U.S. dollar.
