In a bid to expand its capabilities to service larger turbine engines, Standard Aero announced the purchase of TSS Aviation in Cincinnati for $65 million. Standard Aero and Landmark aviation were added to Dubai Aerospace Enterprise’s (DAE) rapidly growing portfolio of aviation businesses in August as part of a $1.9 billion buyout from the Carlyle Group. The TSS Aviation purchase will play a key role in the growth of DAE Engineering’s maintenance, repair and overhaul business, according to Standard Aero and Landmark president and CEO Paul Soubry. Standard Aero also announced the start of a $5.5 million expansion of its Maryville, Tenn. facility to prepare for MRO work on PW600-series engines for VLJs. PW600 maker Pratt & Whitney Canada named Standard Aero the designated overhauler for the engines earlier this year.
