<p>Raytheon Aircraft delivered 35 business jets and 27 King Airs in the second quarter of this year compared with the delivery of 28 jets and 22 King Airs in the same period last year, according to Raytheon’s quarterly financial report released this morning. The increase in jet shipments was solely the result of more deliveries of Hawker 400XPs. Despite significantly lower bookings for jets in the period (28 in the second quarter of this year versus 72 in the same three months of last year), Raytheon is sticking to its prior forecast to deliver 150 jets this year. Turning to the new Hawker Horizon, the company said the flight-test program is 90-percent complete, the ground test program 100-percent complete and supplier hardware qualification is 95-percent done. At the time the jet received partial certification last December, Raytheon projected full certification by the third quarter. But, referring to “a delay by a major avionics supplier,” it said final certification is now expected in the fourth quarter. Raytheon played down this latest delay and said Horizon performance is “meeting or exceeding all expectations.” When the Horizon was first announced at the 1996 NBAA Convention, Raytheon said the aircraft would receive full certification in 2001.</p>
