As the cold weather settles into the Northeast, construction is advancing well on Million Air Teterboro’s new terminal/hangar complex. Founded in 1958, the FBO recently recast the charter arm of its business as Meridian Air Charter, which will also operate from the new facility. Meridian Air Charter president Dennis O’Connell said of the new terminal project, “Teterboro Airport is undergoing a wonderful facelift, and we plan to be the centerpiece of this transformation.”O’Connell referred to the early art deco architectural style of the new complex.
Construction is planned in two stages, with the first phase–the three-story, 21,000-sq-ft terminal/office building and a two-story 12,000-sq-ft maintenance center–planned for completion in June. Those buildings are being built on previously vacant land, so the existing Million Air facility can continue operations uninterrupted. Once phase one is completed, the existing terminal/hangar will be razed and Million Air will begin building a new 40,000-sq-ft hangar and paving two acres of ramp space. That construction should be completed by next year-end.
