LAS Renamed Harry Reid International Airport
Las Vegas McCarran International Airport will be renamed following a unianimous vote by the Clark County Commission.
First named after Nevada Senator Patrick McCarran in 1948, Las Vegas' primary airport McCarran Field was retitled McCarran International Airport in 1968. The airport will now be renamed for former Senate majority leader Harry Reid, who rose from poverty to reach the highest rung in U.S. government by any Nevadan, after state legistators re-examined McCarran's legacy of racism and antisemitism.
