Matt Thurber, editor-in-chief at AIN Media Group, has been flying since 1975 and writing about aviation since 1978 and now has the best job in the world, running editorial operations for Aviation International News, Business Jet Traveler, and FutureFlight.aero. The FAA is seeking comments (due October 30) on passenger use of <a href="http://www.ofr.gov/OFRUpload/OFRData/2012-21577_PI.pdf">portable electronic devices</a> (PEDs) in general aviation and airline operations. Operators are allowed to determine that PEDs don’t interfere with navigation and communication systems but, the FAA wrote, “this notice requests comments about key areas of policy and guidance that are used by aircraft operators when making these determinations. It also requests comments about other technical challenges for addressing the problems associated with determining if and when PEDs can be used.”
