A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Florida-based STS Aviation Group has acquired the assets of MRO provider AeroMod International, including a 114,500-sq-ft hangar at Melbourne International Airport, which now houses a new division of the company—STS Mod Center—that specializes in avionics and structural modifications.

 


“STS Aviation Group is continuing its high-growth strategy, and with the addition of this new hangar, we have the ability to perform a variety of avionics and structural aircraft modification services for airline, leasing companies and OEM customers both at our new Melbourne facility or on site at their location,” said company CEO PJ Anson. “We already have certifications in place, and the team is up, running and ready for action.”

 


The location will offer services including in-flight entertainment, satcom Wi-Fi connectivity, ADS-B OUT, in-seat power installations, cabin retrofits and winglet modifications. It holds Part 145 authorization from the FAA, EASA and Brazil’s ANAC as well as AS 9110B and AS 9100 quality system approvals.

 


Anson believes the new division will draw from the other eight branches of the company for success, such as STS Component Solutions, STS Engineering Solutions and STS Repair and Modification. “It’s all connected, and that connectivity makes a world of difference when it comes to saving our clients time and money,” he said.
