Perth Adds Surface Movement Radar

The new radar allows controllers to see and prevent conflicts between aircraft and vehicles on runways and taxiways.

The commissioning of an advanced surface movement guidance and control system at Perth Airport is complete, according to Australian air navigation service provider Airservices. The new radar, also in use at Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne airports, allows controllers to see, identify and predict conflicts between aircraft and equipped vehicles on runways and taxiways.
