<p>The FAA has issued a final rule that continues overflight fees but reduces the amount of them. Based on an FAA analysis and adjustment of the costs of providing ATC services to aircraft that fly over U.S.-controlled airspace but neither take off from nor land in the U.S., the agency has reduced the en route fees by about 10 percent and the oceanic fees by approximately 20 percent. The new rates are $33.72 per 100 mi flown in en route airspace, and $15.94 per 100 mi flown in oceanic airspace. An interim rule established overflight fees, which became effective August 1 last year. The reduced fees became effective this past August 20.</p>
