The potential for new materials to help the advanced air mobility (AAM) sector to fulfill its potential is set to be amplified during a series of webinars scheduled for this month by the American Composite Manufacturers Association (ACMA). The Advanced Air Mobility Composite Technology Days are being held on April 12, 14, 19, and 21, providing briefings on subject areas such as design and structures, certification and materials, manufacturing and repairs, and infrastructure, covering possible applications such as eVTOL aircraft and vertiports.
The webinars, which ACMA says will explore innovative manufacturing and materials solutions, include expert speakers from leading companies in the composites industry, including several already active in the aviation sector, such as Toray, Hexcel, Spirit AeroSystems, and Collins Aerospace. The sessions will provide insights on quite specific topics such as how to combine lightweight materials with fire resistance and how to select the right materials for individual aircraft structures.
