<p>U.S. federal&nbsp;agencies, including&nbsp;the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), will begin&nbsp;so-called Real driver's license and identification&nbsp;enforcement.&nbsp;Starting on May 7,&nbsp;2025,&nbsp;only state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards that meet the security requirements established by the&nbsp;Real&nbsp;ID Act will be allowed for official purposes, including boarding commercial aircraft.&nbsp;The&nbsp;TSA said the&nbsp;rule “provides necessary flexibility for federal agencies to begin enforcement in a manner that takes into account security, operational risk, and public impact.” The rule also requires agencies to coordinate their plans with&nbsp;the Department of Homeland Security,&nbsp;make the plans publicly available, and achieve full enforcement by May 5, 2027.&nbsp;However, enforcement deadlines have been delayed numerous&nbsp;times since the Real ID Act was signed into law in 2005.</p>
