U.S.-based repair stations&nbsp;must be in compliance with the latest updates and newest annexes of the FAA/EASA maintenance annex guide to&nbsp;obtain&nbsp;EASA Part 145 maintenance approval.&nbsp;The latest version of the guide requires that U.S.-based repair facilities implement&nbsp;a safety management (SMS)&nbsp;that meets&nbsp;FAR Part 5&nbsp;and is&nbsp;acceptable to EASA.&nbsp;The&nbsp;SMS&nbsp;program “must be integrated into the repair station’s processes and procedures that support the&nbsp;[guide’s]&nbsp;special conditions and daily operations of the repair station,”&nbsp;and as a minimum, “include the requirements outlined in the&nbsp;SMSVP&nbsp;[FAA SMS voluntary program].” The SMS declaration submitted with the EASA application&nbsp;for initial or continuous approval “must be appropriate to the size, scope, and complexity of the repair station’s operations.”&nbsp;These changes go into effect Oct. 10. 2025.&nbsp;EASA Part 145 certificate holders that have not established an approved SMS by the Oct. 10, 2025, deadline must include in their supplemental documents a declaration stating that they will be in compliance with all SMS requirements no later than Dec. 31, 2025.
