Since its introduction in 2021, the European Commission’s Energy Taxation Directive has failed to obtain a consensus of revisions among member states in the Council of the European Union. However, Denmark, the state that’s currently the president of the Council, has proposed a plan expected for a vote by the Council on Nov. 13, 2025. This&nbsp;proposal would impose a tax of approximately €0.40 ($0.47) per liter on jet-A&nbsp;for both private and commercial business aviation. In addition, sustainable aviation fuel used by business aviation would be taxed at a rate of €0.18 per litre. “This marks a clear and unjustified discrimination against business aviation,” according to the European Business Aviation Association. “We are raising concerns directly with member states, stressing the disproportionate and unfair impact this measure would have on our sector and its damaging effects on Europe’s competitiveness, connectivity, and economy.”
