Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is proposing streamlining regulations to permit an aircraft maintenance engineer certified by&nbsp;certain designated&nbsp;countries&nbsp;to operate in that capacity and be fully recognized under CASA Part 66.&nbsp;This initiative is designed to help address the&nbsp;country’s&nbsp;shortage of licensed aircraft maintenance engineers.&nbsp;Applicants from recognized states would be required to meet other minimum requirements, including English language proficiency, recency of experience, and knowledge of Australian aviation legislation.&nbsp;License holders from non-recognized States will still be able to obtain Australian licenses via the current Part 147 maintenance training&nbsp;rules. Comments on the proposal are due by June 4, 2025.&nbsp;
