The FAA has awarded MightyFly a special airworthiness certificate and a certificate of authorization permitting it to fly the experimental aircraft between two San Francisco Bay-area airports.
The second-generation Cento design features a new pusher propeller that will allow the derivative of the earlier MF-100 design to carry a 100-pound payload on trips of up to 600 miles.
The company's MF-100 aircraft is remotely monitored by fully trained pilots and will be able to operate from small landing sites where freight can be automatically transferred to and from last-mile ground vehicles.
