Aircraft parts supplier McFarlane Aviation has acquired backcountry and military aircraft equipment maker Airglas, which will keep building its products in Anchorage, Alaska, with its existing team. McFarlane, part of aftermarket components group Victor Sierra, said what changes is availability, letting more pilots order Airglas products quickly regardless of where they are based.
Airglas products include fiberglass skis for Cessna, Piper, Maule, Husky, and other airplanes; heavy-duty nose forks that accommodate larger tires on Cessna, Piper, and GippsAero Airvan airplanes; and cargo and fuel pods that add storage and fuel capacity.
“We have spent decades building equipment for pilots who land where there is no runway,” Airglas owner Shane Langland said. “Joining McFarlane lets our team keep doing that work here in Alaska, while McFarlane’s distribution network puts our products in reach of pilots and mechanics around the world.”
Airglas products are available now through McFarlane Alaska and will be offered through McFarlane Aviation soon, McFarlane said. McFarlane already offers bush airplane products including Alaskan Bushwheels, tailwheel suspension systems, and main landing gear for Cessna, Piper, Maule, Husky, and other airplanes.
