Rotorvox Aero's C2A gyroplane is marking its first appearance in the U.S. this week at the Sun ’n‘ Fun International Fly-In in Lakeland, Florida. The all-carbon monocoque gyroplane—developed and produced in Germany by Rotorvox Lift Air, a division of Lift Air in Eisenach—is on static display this week at Booth 30 in Paradise City, the light sport area.

 


It has a twin-boom tail with rugged trailing link main gear and elastomer shock absorption, and also sports a hydraulic pre-rotation system. The C2A's cabin features side-by-side seating and dual controls, and a turbocharged Rotax 914 engine provides power.

 


“I went to Eisenach to fly the C2A and came away impressed with the gyroplane and the people behind it,” said Cobus Burger, importer and distributor for the Rotorvox products in the Americas. The C2A is certified and sold ready-to-fly in Europe, but will be an experimental amateur-built kit in the U.S. Denver-based Rotorvox Aero U.S. intends to associate with Flight Design USA of South Woodstock, Connecticut, to create an East Coast customer build assistance center. After Sun ’n‘ Fun, Cobus will be flying the C2A to its new base of operations at Denver Rocky Mountain Airport.

 


Rotorvox Aero and the C2A are also participating in demonstration flights on the Paradise City grass runway this week at the airshow.
