Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

AOPA has scheduled a range of activities this week&nbsp;during Sun ’n’ Fun 2016 in Lakeland, Fla., including two pilot town halls that will delve into a range of issues confronting pilots, along with the latest of the association’s initiatives. Association president Mark Baker will host both town halls, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday and 1 p.m. Friday at the AOPA Program Pavilion. In addition, Baker is participating in a Congressional Town Hall that will be hosted by House General Aviation Caucus co-chair Sam Graves (R-Mo.) on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the on-airport FAA Safety Center. The sessions are among nearly <a href="http://download.aopa.org/2016SnF.pdf?_ga=1.89253275.1267092610.1443615591">three-dozen activities</a>, from socials to safety seminars, that AOPA is holding during the week.

 


The association also will display a “reimagined” Cessna 152 similar to the one awarded to Eric Peterson on March 22 in Waxhaw, N.C., as part of the AOPA 2015 You Can Fly Sweepstakes. Peterson had served as missionary pilot who operated search-and-rescue, disaster relief and humanitarian flights for almost 40 years and more recently was an airport manager for JAARS Inc., a nonprofit firm that trains and places missionaries around the world. He also recently extended the grass runway at the JAARS home airport from 800 feet to 1,400 feet, mostly through volunteer labor and use of a 1968 front-end loader.

 


Aviat Aircraft in Afton, Wyo., returned the 1978 Cessna 152 (that was eventually awarded to Peterson) to “as new” condition. The company also refurbished the Cessna 152 that is on display this week at Sun ’n’ Fun.
