Vertical's Second VX4 eVTOL Prototype Begins Flight Tests

The full-scale aircraft is the second prototype built by the company, and features new technology

Vertical VX4 eVTOL prototype makes tethered flight — Vertical Aerospace's second VX4 eVTOL prototype made its first tethered flight in the UK at 5.45 p.m. local time on July 25.

Vertical Aerospace has begun test flights with its second full-scale prototype of the VX4 eVTOL aircraft. On July 26, the UK company reported that the aircraft made a tethered flight just a few feet off the ground at Kemble Airport in the west of England.

According to Vertical, it measured more than 20,000 flight and system parameters during the first flight, verifying thrust, handling qualities, and system performance. The aircraft was flown by the company’s chief test pilot Justin Paines.
