Greece was this week confirmed as the latest European customer for Embraer’s KC-390 Millennium multimission aircraft. A contract for three of the aircraft was signed on Monday as part of a government-to-government transaction between Greece and Portugal, which is acting as an intermediary for Brazilian airframer Embraer.

The Greek air force is due to receive the first KC-390 in 2027 to provide air-to-air refueling capability and its ability to operate with NATO allies. It will also receive standardized training, support, and logistics via the agreement with Portugal.

Greece is the seventh European nation to select the KC-390, which has a payload of 26 metric tons (57,000 pounds) and can fly at 470 knots. In addition to Portugal, the KC-390 has also been ordered by Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Sweden, with Embraer having booked other orders from Brazil, South Korea, Uzbekistan, the UAE, and Colombia.

On Tuesday, Embraer signed a contract with Fokker Services Group in the Netherlands covering maintenance support for the Millennium twinjet in Europe. The agreement covers support for the KC-390s that will be operated by the Dutch air force.
