BriteCloud Expendable Decoy Selected for ANG Testing
Leonardo's active jamming decoy is to be tested on U.S. F-16s and, if successful, could be adopted fleetwide to improve the aircraft's defenses.
BriteCloud was initially designed with a circular cross-section to fit 55mm countermeasures dispensers employed by the Tornado and Typhoon, but in its 218 version is repackaged into a rectangular-section body to fit the U.S.-standard AN/ALE-47 dispenser. (Photo: Leonardo)
