Preparing a thrust reverser for its final finish starts well before the paint is applied.

In this video, Jacob Reeves, Nacelle Supervisor, walks through a Gulfstream G5 thrust reverser undergoing a full overhaul at DAS Aviation. Each unit begins with a comprehensive inspection to determine the work required. For this particular thrust reverser, the overhaul included new hinge beams, a new mount ring and additional repairs and replacements as needed.

Following the overhaul, the thrust reverser moves through the preparation and priming process. Multiple stages of primer help create a smooth, uniform surface, covering rivets and addressing minor surface imperfections before the final paint is applied.

Once the preparation is complete, the thrust reverser is paint-ready and can be finished according to the customer’s aircraft requirements and preferred paint scheme.
