Inside a Challenger 300 Radome Transmissivity Testing
A closer look at radome transmissivity testing at DAS Aviation.
DAS Challenger 300 Radome

A radome may look like a straightforward aircraft component, but its ability to properly transmit radar signals is critical to its performance.

In this video, Nathan Morris, Quality Control Inspector, takes us inside DAS Aviation’s transmissivity testing process using a Bombardier Challenger 300 radome.

Following repair, transmissivity testing helps verify that radio frequency signals pass through the radome at acceptable levels. The testing provides documented results and can also help identify anomalies that may require additional correction before the radome is returned to the customer.

DAS Aviation performs transmissivity testing to FAA-approved standards and RTCA DO-213, with capabilities ranging from smaller radomes, such as the Embraer Phenom 300, to large aircraft radomes, including the Boeing 787.
