A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Clay Lacy Aviation has been awarded a lease for a new FBO at Friedman Memorial Airport (KSUN) in Sun Valley, Idaho.&nbsp;The California-based company will begin construction on the 10-acre plot as soon as designs are finalized and building permits approved.&nbsp;It will become the second FBO on the field, as well as the company's fourth location.
When completed in 2027, the facility will offer a 4,500-sq-ft terminal, more than 110,000 sq ft of hangar space that will accommodate ultra-long-range business jets, a 14,500-sq-ft enclosed vehicle parking garage, and four acres of ramp. Like all of the company’s new facilities, it is expected to achieve carbon neutrality and receive LEED Gold certification for sustainability.
“It is an honor to bring a sustainable approach while strengthening the general aviation experience at Friedman Memorial Airport,” said Scott Cutshall, Clay Lacy’s president of real estate and sustainability. “We understand and value this unique area, having flown to and from KSUN for over five decades. That longevity leads us to take a community-focused approach to the design of our facilities and service.”
A fixture at Los Angeles-area Van Nuys Airport for decades, Clay Lacy is currently <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2022-10-18/clay-lacy-bets-big-new-fbos">constructing</a>&nbsp;an FBO at John Wayne Airport (KSNA) in Orange County and is putting the finishing touches on its first East Coast facility at Waterbury–Oxford Airport (KOXC) in Connecticut.
