A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Ending months of speculation, Jet Aviation announced it has broken ground on a new FBO at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (KOPF). The facility will occupy 27 acres on the bustling dedicated general aviation airport.
It will feature a silver LEED-certified 8,500-sq-ft terminal, a 4,800-sq-ft U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility for onsite clearance, 12.4 acres of ramp space, and a pair of 20,000-sq-ft hangars that can accommodate the latest ultra-long-range business jets.
“Adding Miami to our network is key to further strengthening our footprint in the U.S.,” said David Best, Jet Aviation’s senior v-p for regional operations Americas. “We are committed to growing in locations where our customers want us to be.”
He added that Florida is an important destination for business aviation and the company has built a reputation on service quality there with its Palm Beach facility, which has been in operation since 1985.
When the first phase of development is completed in third-quarter 2025, it will be the fifth FBO on the field, as well as Jet Aviation’s 13th location in the U.S. and its territories.
