Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

West Star Aviation specializes in airframe repair and maintenance, engine repair and maintenance, major modifications, avionics installation and repair, interior refurbishment, paint, parts, surplus avionics sales, window repair and accessory services.

West Star Aviation is planning another major expansion in its network, this time to build an additional hangar at its Grand Junction, Colorado facility. The announcement on Wednesday morning followed the ribbon cutting in late August of a new hangar at its East Alton, Illinois facility that adds 75,700 sq ft to the company’s operations at St. Louis Regional Airport.
Designed and to be constructed in partnership with Tectonic Management Group, the project will encompass 109,000 sq ft in all, including 40,000 sq ft of hangar space for maintenance services, avionics installation, and interior refurbishments, along with 38,000 sq ft for offices and back shops. Plans further call for an additional 31,000 sq ft of ramp space.
The hangar will significantly increase its maintenance capacity at Grand Junction, West Star said, along with providing space for future growth. The project coincides with a multi-year runway improvement project at Grand Junction Airport that West Star said will further enhance its operations.
West Star estimates that the project will create 80 to 100 new jobs. To begin in the first quarter of 2025, construction is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2026.
“This expansion is an exciting milestone for us,” said Scott Sweeney, v-p and general manager of the West Star Grand Junction facility. “We’re not just building a new hangar—we’re building on the success and dedication of our team. This will allow us to continue to provide the top-tier service our customers expect while creating new opportunities for our employees and the community.”
