With Gogo’s 5G network now complete, Gogo is turning their attention to updating the service and experience of their licensed 3G/4G network. To do so, they are migrating the Gogo Biz (3G/4G) network to newer LTE technology.
If you are flying with one of Gogo’s legacy ATG connectivity systems (the ATG-1000, 2000, 4000, 5000, or 8000 systems), your service will be shut off and will no longer function in January 2026 as they shut down the older existing network.
In order to keep your Gogo in-flight connectivity working, you will need to update your installation solution to Gogo’s newer and network-compatible L3/L5 AVANCE series equipment no later than December 2025.
Simple. Sooner than later, get your aircraft scheduled in to one of Stevens’ four MRO locations for a system hardware update. Problem solved.
It’s really that easy “if” you do this soon as shop slots are open, and Gogo has committed to immediate hardware availability. Not only that, but Gogo is also offering ENORMOUS REBATES THAT WILL END IN DECEMBER 2025 to entice users to convert now before the anticipated “logjam” of over 3000 users who will convert their equipment in late 2025. If you wait until later, one could expect that, just like with the ADS-B issue, many people will wait until the last minute where shop slot availability and capacity will evaporate, and everyone’s costs will go up.
Picture the serene experience of flying with your children while enjoying uninterrupted connectivity. Now, contrast that with the potential chaos that can arise if you unexpectedly lose connectivity due to not securing your slot early.
Or imagine you can’t charter a plane because it doesn’t have connectivity. We’ve all been there before and have seen how that usually turns out. And, to make it even worse, you now know this day is coming. But there’s a solution available now and Stevens can make this issue go away. And not only that, the updated equipment will also bring you faster service with additional useful features to make your in-flight experience even better.
Now that we’ve established what’s coming up, and why, and what you need to do about it “sooner than later”, let’s take a deeper look into what good stuff you are going to get other than “just keeping your internet alive”.
And to be blunt, the fly-away price now from Gogo is as low as it will ever be when you upgrade to the newer “network compatible” systems. Here’s why in three bite-sized chunks:
So, what’s the difference between the legacy systems and Gogo’s newer solutions? Gogo AVANCE systems today are designed to operate on both the current Gogo Biz network and the future LTE network, so upgrading to AVANCE will provide both immediate and long-term benefits.
Outside of these speed enhancements, the AVANCE platform also provides significant additional benefits such as:
As we are nearing the point where the “speed numbers” become less relevant, the “service and features” start to become more and more important as you look at connectivity more on the “experience” level, rather “what speed number” you are getting. Let’s face it, there’s not much difference in going 130MPH or going 150MPH, if the vehicle and driver are in complete control (assuming all this happens on a racetrack and off public roads, of course).
Gogo has you covered with remote operational support, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and over-the-air updates. They offer in-flight entertainment services through Gogo Vision, including moving maps, movies, TV shows, and various e-Magazines.
We've been with Gogo since day one, installing industry-leading connectivity systems, and we have everything well under control to ensure you fly away connected and never look back.
Schedule your system hardware update at one of Stevens' MRO locations. We're ready to keep you flying connected.
