Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Tecnam formed a partnership with Flyvbird to help it develop an operation that will provide air service to smaller&nbsp;rural airports.&nbsp;German startup airline Flyvbird,&nbsp;launching under the brand name&nbsp;Flyvirtual, plans to use an “innovative algorithmic” approach to offer an alternative to traditional transportation modes, said Tecnam, who will deliver the&nbsp;first aircraft—a nine-passenger P2012 piston twin.
Rather than a traditional hub-and-spoke network, the&nbsp;airline is developing an app-based scheduling platform using a proprietary algorithm to optimize the daily flight schedule based on paid bookings and operational constraints. Flyvbird added that&nbsp;it will provide a guaranteed fixed travel timeframe at booking.&nbsp;
“We are thrilled to announce our close partnership with Tecnam, which will help us accelerate our growth and establish ourselves as a leader in personalized on-demand air travel,” said Tomislav Lang, founder and CEO of Flyvbird, which recently received an investment for development.
Tecnam added that the P2012 and P2012 STOL, with their flexibility and lower operating costs, are “the perfect aircraft to launch this novel approach to on-demand services.” The cabin-class high-wing aircraft can be operated in a range of configurations&nbsp;that offer in-seat power, under-seat stowage, and ample legroom. Further, the aircraft are equipped with TKS deicing capabilities and are designed to be able to operate in areas with challenging weather environments.
