A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

NBAA’s lead-off event for 2023—the Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference (SDC)—concluded yesterday in Nashville, Tennesee, starting the year on a high note. The show attracted a record of more than 3,400 attendees, 10 percent of whom were&nbsp;first-timers at SDC.
On the show floor, more than 460 exhibitors displayed their services and wares, including EVT/Garsite's debut of their <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2023-01-23/electric-refueler-makes-history-sdc2023">fully-electric refueler</a>.&nbsp;AEG Fuels joined the ranks of the major fuel providers bringing contingents of their dealer network FBOs&nbsp;as it showed off its AEG Connect brand for the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2023-01-25/new-branded-fuel-dealer-network-debuts-nbaa-sdc">first time</a> at SDC.
The conference, which was themed “Community, connections, and a little bit of country,” featured more than 30 education sessions, as well as a "day of service"&nbsp;event where a group of volunteers from the show assisted a local organization that benefits women survivors of trafficking, prostitution, and addiction.
“SDC2023 was an incredible, record-breaking event, but it's about so much more than the numbers," said NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen, who addressed the audience at the show’s <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2023-01-25/bolen-talks-industry-challenges-and-opportunities-sdc">opening session</a> on Wednesday. “This is a group that’s very passionate. They are committed to coming together, giving back to the community, and moving the industry forward. And the way they do that as part of this event is inspiring.”
Next year’s edition will take place in Fort Worth, Texas, from March 12 to 14.
