A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

After a Covid-induced hiatus, the Flight Attendant Mix and Mingle event made its return to NBAA-BACE Tuesday night, with a sold-out event at the Crystal Ballroom in nearby Casselberry, Florida.&nbsp;While the event was free to attend, the number of registrations was capped at 200, leading to a last-minute scramble for any available tickets.

 


The event received sponsorship from NBAA, AvJet Asia, BE Princess, Davinci Training institution, European Catering Association, First Chime Chef Privé, Inflight Crew Connections, Manny's Catering, Primadonna, Silver&nbsp;Lining Inflight Catering, VVIP International, and Big Chef. Created to Cater, a local private aviation specialist,&nbsp;catered&nbsp;the event, which included delicacies such as filet mignon with horseradish on bruschetta, chopped shrimp with avocado, and the popular charcuterie-in-a-cup, along with chocolate mousse cake shots and other desserts.

 


It attracted flight attendants with a wide range of experience. Sarah-Jane Rossoni, for example, started as a flight crewmember with Swiss Air in 1995 before transitioning to corporate aviation in 2008. After spending most of her career in Europe, she is starting to network on this side of the Atlantic. “I‘d like to meet flight attendants from the U.S., to see what people do here, what they like, what they need, and what I can bring from Europe to the U.S.,” she told AIN.

 


On the other end of the spectrum, Chicago-based Tiffany Daverin arrived at NBAA-BACE with her newly&nbsp;minted Aircare FACTS training certificate. “I’m just starting out to network and hopefully find a company to hire me,” she said, adding&nbsp;that Mix and Mingle was conducive to that goal. “It’s more comfortable because we’re getting to know each other on a different level than being at [BACE]," she explained.

 


Organizers are already at work preparing for next year’s edition, to be held in Las Vegas concurrent with the next BACE.
