The UK and EASA have awarded a supplemental type certificate (STC) to C&amp;L Aviation Services for its upgrade of the Universal UNS-1K series flight management system (FMS) to the UNS-1LW wide area augmentation system-enabled unit for the Embraer ERJ-135/145 and Legacy 600/650.

 


“We’re pleased to follow up our <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2022-02-02/cl-stcs-universal-fms-upgrade-erj-135-45-variants" target="_blank">FAA STC certification</a> earlier this year with EASA and UK approval,” said C&amp;L avionics sales manager Charlie Carroll. “Having a viable option for European operators to upgrade their FMS systems is critical as these systems continue to evolve. Having our own in-house engineering group allows us to dedicate resources to STC projects like this one that meet customer’s needs.”

 


Bangor, Maine-based C&amp;L specializes in modifying and upgrading Embraer regional jets into all-business-class and private aircraft and maintains one of the world’s largest inventories of ERJ parts. The company also is working on a new first-class seat design for the type.
