A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

With NBAA’s Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference (SDC) little more than three weeks away, show organizers are asking attendees once again to raid their closets for gently worn business clothing and accessories to donate to charities in host city San Antonio, Texas, through the Schedulers and Dispatchers advisory council’s Pay It Forward program.

 


The program is entering its ninth year, and SDC showgoers have donated thousands of garments, which are collected by local organizations such as Dress for Success, to distribute to disadvantaged people seeking proper clothing for interviews and/or work.

 


Each year, the number of donated items has risen, tallying nearly 17,000 over the past eight years, according to Pay It Forward chair and co-founder Debbi Laux. Garments or cash donations can be deposited at the Pay It Forward area, which will be located near the exhibit floor entrance at the city’s Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center.

 


“We are excited as this will be the second time&nbsp;that we have partnered with the San Antonio chapter of Dress for Success as we support their efforts to make a difference in the lives of so many,” said Laux, a candidate specialist with Aviation Personnel International. “We can all help create&nbsp;confidence with clothing for those receiving the donations as they seek to&nbsp;be self-sufficient and employed when we pay it forward.”
