Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Garmin International, which acquired FltPlan in August, has begun the initial integration of its Garmin Pilot app and the FltPlan web portal, saying the companies have made rapid progress in merging their portfolios. Under the initial phase, pilots will be able to use FltPlan for pre-flight planning and filing and automatically view that same flight plan within the Trip Planning section Garmin Pilot app on Apple mobile devices.

 


Customers using the Garmin Pilot app can access&nbsp;both recent and future trips that were created on the FltPlan website. Pilots can&nbsp;wirelessly transfer the flight plans from the app to Garmin avionics. The navigation log on the FltPlan.com website further can be viewed in Garmin Pilot under the NavLog tab in Trip Planning.

 


Customers have access to the seamless transition between the FltPlan website and Garmin Pilot app in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, Venezuela, and Colombia, Garmin added.

 


This capability, available as&nbsp;NBAA-BACE 2018 kicks off,&nbsp;is the first in a series of enhancements planned as part of the integration of FltPlan and Garmin products. “We are proud to show early progress and eager to launch this integration between FltPlan and Garmin Pilot,” said Carl Wolf, vice president of aviation marketing and sales. “This announcement symbolizes the beginning of a much anticipated collaboration that merges the most widely used flight planning and filing tool&nbsp;with an industry-leading app.”

 


The free FltPlan account provides a range of web-based flight planning and management services, including access to weather, airport information, fuel prices, printable navigation logs, and aircraft performance data.
