Chad is the editor of AINalerts, AIN's daily business aviation newsletter, and is also the news editor at AIN Media Group.&nbsp;He has been writing about aviation, with an emphasis on business aviation, since 1994. Chad started his writing career at The Avion,&nbsp;the&nbsp;student newspaper at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, serving as editor-in-chief before graduating with a bachelor's in aeronautical science. After a stint as managing editor at Professional Pilot&nbsp;magazine, he joined&nbsp;AIN in late 1998. FlightSafety International is now offering a Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada PT6 engine familiarization training program for pilots. The course includes basic theory, engine to airframe interface, and best practices while operating the engine. FlightSafety's new course is currently available at its training centers in Botucato, Brazil, and Montreal, with more locations coming “in the near future.”

 


“Our new PT6 engine familiarization training will provide pilots who fly PT6-powered turboprops with the operating fundamentals,” said FlightSafety senior v-p of operations Daniel MacLellan. “It will also be beneficial for pilots who are transitioning from piston- to turbine-powered aircraft.”

 


FlightSafety also provides technology-based maintenance training for many P&amp;WC turboprop, turbofan, and turboshaft engine families, as well as for auxiliary power units. The maintenance training programs offer classroom and hands-on instruction. To date, the company has delivered nearly 14,000 courses for P&amp;WC engines and APUs to customers from 126 countries.
