Former FAA administrator Michael Huerta is poised to keep his hand in the aviation industry, joining infrastructure financial advisor Macquarie Capital as a senior advisor. The announcement of the appointment comes just a few weeks after Huerta’s five-year term at the helm of the FAA ended.
In his new role, he will provide insight on existing transportation initiatives, as well as guidance on new opportunities.
"Michael has an exceptional reputation as a federal administrator in U.S. transportation,“ said Nick Butcher, global co-head of the Infrastructure and Energy Group at Macquarie Capital. “His deep industry experience, relationships, and insights will greatly benefit our clients and partners as we pursue initiatives in U.S. airport and other transportation infrastructure.”
Huerta brings to his role a grounding in large projects through his service at the FAA as administrator and before that as deputy administrator. But he also has a background in other modes of transportation. He formerly was president of the Transportation Solutions Group at Affiliated Computer Services (now Conduent), and has held positions at the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Port of San Francisco, and New York City's Department of Ports, International Trade, and Commerce.
