Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

FlightSafety International (FSI) obtained CAR 147 approval from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation to provide maintenance technician training at Deccan Charters’ facility on Jakkur Airfield in Bangalore. To begin this month, the initial training will encompass a range of courses for Pratt &amp; Whitney Canada turboprop, turboshaft and turbofan engines, as well as auxiliary power units. FSI expects to add avionics and airframe maintenance technician courses for Cessna, King Air and Sikorsky aircraft in the future.

 


“This is a significant development for the aviation industry in India, as it provides access to FlightSafety’s high-quality courses and advanced technology training systems,” said Deccan Charters CEO Sanjay Saihgal. “This is also in line with the recently announced government initiative of skill development, to make aviation integral to infrastructure development and economic growth and reflects the potential growth of corporate and regional aviation in India and the surrounding countries.”

 


The training programs will include classroom and hands-on instruction. The facility is equipped with advanced technology training systems that include a FlightSafety graphical flightdeck simulator.

 


Deccan Charters provides a variety of services, including maintenance, management, training and charter. The company has a fleet of more than 50 aircraft based at 15 locations.
