Gulfstream G500 On Time, but Early EIS Hopes Dashed

CFO reveals that an unnamed supplier is behind on EASA approval of an unspecified component for the G500.

Gulfstream will begin deliveries of the G500 early next year as planned. It had earlier hoped that it might start shipments of the new large-cabin twinjet in late 2017, but a supplier is behind on obtaining EASA approval for one of its components on the airplane. (Photo: Gulfstream Aerospace)

Hopes that Gulfstream might begin deliveries of its new G500 early were dashed today when Jason Aiken, the senior v-p and CFO of parent company General Dynamics, revealed that an unidentified supplier is behind on EASA approval of an unspecified component. The G500 is Gulfstream’s first aircraft to apply for simultaneous FAA/EASA certification.
