Newly released results from Aviation International News sister publication Business Jet Traveler’s 2016 Readers' Choice Survey found that 37 percent of those who fly privately expect to increase their time in the air in the next year and another 54 percent expect to fly at least as much. The sixth annual survey, published in the October/November issue, found that while 28 percent have flown less time in the past year, only 9 percent expect to cut back next year. Results are based on responses from 1,285 BJT subscribers, a 26-percent increase from last year and a record for the survey.
As in past surveys, the ability to save time and use airports that airlines don’t serve topped the reasons for using business aviation. Also as in past surveys, readers listed economical operation, range and cabin size as the three most important features in an aicraft. The order of those three, however, has varied in past years.
When asked which business jet they would choose if they were to receive a year of complimentary flying, a Gulfstream led the pack in three categories: midsize-cabin jet (Gulfstream 100/150), large-cabin (Gulfstream G450) and ultra-long-range (G650). The Embraer Phenom 300 led the small-cabin/light-jet choices and the Bombardier Challenger 300 was the top choice for a super-midsize category.
The survey results also cover preferences for fractional share providers, jet cards and charter operators, among other data.
