Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Embraer today confirmed that it is cutting 1,463 employees, or about 8 percent of its workforce, through a <a href="http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/aerospace/2016-08-09/embraer-seeks-reduce-workforce-voluntary-cuts">voluntary buyout program</a> that the Brazilian manufacturer announced last month. In August, Embraer said it was offering a voluntary dismissal program (VDP) as part of an effort to save $200 million.

 


The manufacturer, saying the program would affect all of its business units, had cited a “challenging global aerospace scenario.” The program comes on the heels of a $200 million second-quarter charge the company took in anticipation of a potential outcome of a U.S. corruption investigation.

 


In addition, Embraer had revised down its business delivery forecast for the year and reported a 25percent drop in revenues from its executive jet unit in the second quarter.&nbsp;Margins in that unit for the quarter were -8.5 percent.&nbsp;

 


Embraer CEO Paulo Cesar Silva had stressed the need to remain disciplined in a soft business jet environment, saying the company was “adjusting its internal costs in the unit [so] we can get to the margins we need." The company has also had to curb its military programs as a result of the Brazilian financial crises.
