Kerry Lynch stepped into the role of editor of the&nbsp;Aviation International News&nbsp;monthly magazine in May 2022 after serving with&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;for eight years. She joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in December 2014 as a senior editor covering Washington and business aviation news. She has also served on Convention News teams, including as editor of&nbsp;HAI Convention News. Lynch previously spent 25 years with Aviation Week. During her time there, she reported for and later steered&nbsp;The Weekly of Business Aviation, oversaw business aviation content on the&nbsp;Aviation Week Intelligence Network, served on the&nbsp;Show News&nbsp;staff, and held roles as the Washington columnist for&nbsp;Business &amp; Commercial Aviation&nbsp;and&nbsp;Overhaul &amp; Maintenance&nbsp;monthly magazines. In 2021 she was honored with the National Business Aviation Association Platinum Wing Award for lifetime achievement in journalism and was the 2004 recipient of the National Air Transportation Association’s Aviation Journalism Excellence Award. She also has been a recipient of an Aerospace Media Award for business aviation (2022) and NBAA Gold Wing Award (2003, 2024). Lynch graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Sennheiser will exit the pilot headset business at the end of February, shifting its focus to core businesses, the company said. “Our decision to leave the pilots’ headset sector was not taken lightly, especially as we have played a key role in the development of audio transmission in the cockpit, for example by introducing the world’s first headset with active noise compensation to receive FAA-TSO certification,” said COO Peter Claussen. “We will redirect our aviation-specific resources to focus on our key business of headphone and microphone technology.”

 


The company will continue to provide headsets for the ATC sector.&nbsp;The ATC team will be folded into the joint venture Sennheiser Communications in January. Sennheiser also said it would fulfill all obligations for servicing and spare parts. “Even after all legal obligations have expired, support can certainly still be offered in individual cases,” Claussen confirmed.

 


Sennheiser, which has sold pilot headsets since the 1980s and developed noise-canceling technology for them later that decade, currently offers the S1 series, along with the HME 110, for general aviation. Just this year the company unveiled an S1 passive headset for helicopters.

The company will still provide ATC headsets and fulfill warranty and parts obligations.
