Blue Sky Industries Europe, a supplier of aviation aftermarket spares, opened an aircraft parts warehouse in Aberdeen, Scotland to support the North Sea oil industry.
“Until now, no other independent non-OEM provider of spare parts has opened any kind of warehouse or distribution center in Aberdeen with the intention of supporting the helicopter operations at the airport,” managing director Gary Tomkinson told AIN.
The new Blue Sky distribution center, slated to open May 5, is located directly adjacent to Aberdeen airport allowing 24/7 access. The company will also provide a twice-daily airside delivery service. The 1,000-sq-ft facility, which is equipped with high-density storage and a bar-coded computerized system, will be staffed around the clock by two material controllers. There are also two sales personnel based in Birmingham.
“We will be holding some 3,000 lines of inventory valued at $250,000,” Tomkinson said.
Blue Sky will be supporting the Sikorsky S92, Eurocopter AS332 and EC225 and AgustaWestland AW139.
