NetJets Europe received certification to operate its Embraer Phenom 300s at London City Airport, which requires aircraft and crew approvals due to its steep 5.5-degree approach path. The company obtained approval last year to fly its Bombardier Global 6000s into the airport, which is located in London's financial district. New York-to-London City has already become a popular route, as customers can fly directly between the economic centers in a Global in 8.3 hours, shaving off about two hours from the typical airline travel time.

According to NetJets, more than 53 percent of its European customer base comes from the London finance sector, with private equity and hedge fund management accounting for the most growth over the past 12 months. Last year, 41 percent of new business in Europe was generated from the financial industry, making the London City approvals for NetJets' Signature Series fleets essential.
