Charles Alcock is managing editor of the AIN Media Group, having rejoined the company in 2019. Charter group Falcon Aviation Services today signed a letter of intent to buy a Bombardier CS300 aircraft, with an option for a second. The $156.5 million deal, which was announced on the second day of this week’s Air Expo show in Abu Dhabi, takes the total number of orders and commitments for the CSeries jet to 447, of which 201 are firm orders.


Falcon Aviation Services is set to be the first non-airline operator of the CSeries and it will offer it for charter by private individuals and businesses. The aircraft are to be supplied in an all business-class configuration, although the exact number of seats has yet to be specified. No delivery date has been given for Falcon’s CS300s, and Bombardier has yet to announce a revised entry-into-service date for the new twinjet in the wake of technical delays in the ongoing certification program.


Earlier this month, <a href="http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/ainalerts/2014-02-11/falcon-aviation-services-orders-pair-bombardier-q400-turboprops">Falcon Aviation Services</a> ordered two Bombardier Q400 twin turboprops, which it plans to use for corporate shuttle services. The company, which is based at Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen Executive Airport, operates a fleet of business jets and helicopters that are largely deployed to support the oil and gas industry.


“The superb versatility of the CSeries aircraft will allow us to offer a unique aircraft configuration on our CS300 aircraft, specifically catering to business, corporate and elite travelers in the Middle East and connecting to North Africa, Europe and the Far East,” said Falcon Aviation Services chief operating officer Captain Mahmoud Ismael. “We selected the CSeries aircraft because of its excellent range, exceptional economics and its outstanding cabin.”
