He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from the University of Illinois, has taught aviation for over 35 years in industry and as a university professor and academic dean at three different universities. He is also a frequent seminar and after-dinner motivational speaker.&nbsp;
Lombardo holds an A&amp;P Certificate, ATP, CFI and Ground Instructor ratings. He was a corporate pilot and was a research pilot and flight instructor at the University of Illinois. The Pilatus PC-12/47E is the subject of a new FAA Airworthiness Directive that describes the unsafe condition as common grounding of both the pilot primary flight display (PFD) and the electronic standby instrument system (ESIS). If the common ground fails, both navigation systems could fail simultaneously, which could result in loss of control. If not corrected it could lead to failure of the PFD and ESIS common ground, resulting in the loss of more than one pilot flight information display and inhibition of flight parameter presentation, possibly resulting in reduced ability to control the aircraft.
