StandardAero Offers Falcon Honeywell Mark V EGPWS Upgrade

StandardAero has received FAA approval for a supplemental type certificate (STC) for upgrading Mark V EGPWS computers with Honeywell’s Smart Runway and SmartLanding Runway Safety Package for the Falcon 50, 50EX,900 and 900EX.

StandardAero completed the STCs via its organization designation authorization at the Springfield, Ill. facility and offers installation at any one of its four North American service centers–the others being in Los Angeles, Augusta, Ga., and Houston.

Honeywell’s enhanced ground proximity warning system combines aircraft inputs for position, attitude, airspeed and glideslope with an internal terrain/obstacle/runway database to predict a potential conflict between the aircraft’s flight path and terrain or an obstacle.

“Smart Runway/Smart Landing is an evolution of the original Honeywell RAAS system, originally developed and released in 2003, that incorporates many improvements over the original RAAS providing even more protection against runway incursions and excursions. This allows operators to increase their safety envelope during the critical takeoff and landing phases of flight. By developing the STC we are the first to install this new system on the Falcon 50EX and we are offering it to Falcon 50 and Falcon 900 owners,” said Jeremy Thomas, avionics product director for StandardAero Business Aviation.
