Andrew Anderson of Cartersville, Ga.-based Aviation Consultants is facing charges of 10 counts of federal conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on charges stating that between approximately September 2009 and June 5, 2010, he attempted to defraud the government of Dubai using fraudulent FAA documents. Singapore-based SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC) had an agreement with the Dubai Air Wing (DAW), a branch of the Dubai government responsible for providing air transportation for government officials, for an interior modification of a Boeing 747. SIAEC contracted with Anderson in August 2009 to have him obtain an STC for the modification. The charges allege that Anderson subsequently provided DAW with fake documents. DAW then paid Aviation Consultants $398,000 for its services during a seven-month period. The claim also alleges that Anderson was involved in the issuance of nonexistent STCs for work on two Avro RJ85s owned by DAW. Avmax Group allegedly hired Anderson to obtain the required STCs to refurbish the aircraft and subsequently paid him $263,395. Attempts to contact Anderson for comment were unsuccessful. Anderson has entered a plea of not guilty to the charges.
