Aircell announced today at Labace that two members of its global dealer network have received from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) installation certifications for the Aviator 300 and Aviator 350. According to the Broomfield, Colo.-based company, they are the first approvals of SwiftBroadband-based communications systems in Brazil. The Aviator units, manufactured by Thrane & Thrane, allow global email, Internet connectivity and voice capabilities via Inmarsat’s satellite-based SwiftBroadband service. The Aviator 300 package was installed and certified on a Cessna Citation CJ3 by TAM Aviação Executiva at its São Paulo facilities. According to general manager and director of maintenance Roberto Faiardo, demand is rising and TAM Aviação Executiva is already installing a second package in another business jet. The Aviator 350 was installed in an Airbus ACJ319 by Avionics Services of São Paulo. Director and CEO Joao Batista Vernini said the customer was “one of the most demanding we have ever worked with and the Aviator system met all [its] expectations.” Aircell says its Aviator 300 has been selected by OEMs for 12 business aircraft programs. The company claims to be the only one offering three of the most popular communication systems: Iridium Satellite, Inmarsat SwiftBroadband and GoGo Biz.
